To authenticate documents for international use, follow the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) attestation process, which includes the following steps:

  • Step 1: Schedule MOFA Appointment

  • Book an appointment through the official online portal to initiate the attestation process.
  • Step 2: Foreign Document Approval

  • Ensure documents issued by foreign countries are approved by MOFA to be accepted by Saudi departments.

Requirements for Document Attestation

Before visiting the MOFA office, ensure you meet the following criteria:

  • Appointment Booking: Schedule a slot for document attestation via the designated online platform.
  • Translation: Translate documents into Arabic to facilitate processing.
  • Iqama: Carry your original Iqama (residence permit) as proof of identity.
  • Foreign Document Validation: Foreign documents such as degrees or marriage certificates must be attested by the Saudi Embassy.
  • Employer-Issued Letters: Letters from employers should be stamped by the Chamber of Commerce for authentication.

By adhering to these requirements, you can expedite the attestation process and validate your documents for international usage.

Booking MOFA Appointment for Document Attestation

To schedule an appointment for Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) attestation online, follow these steps:

  • Choose “Ministry Of Foreign Affairs or its branches” as the Ratification Place.
  • Specify the branch name, such as Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, etc.
  • Indicate nationality: Saudi or Non-Saudi.
  1. Provide Personal Information

  • Enter your Name, Iqama Number, Mobile Number, and Email.
  • Click on “Add New Document” and input document details (e.g., Birth Certificate, Document Number).
  • Complete Captcha verification.
  1. Submit Appointment Request

  • Click the “Submit” button to proceed.
  1. Select Appointment Date and Time

  • View available appointment slots in your chosen region.
  • Select a suitable date and time.
  • Click “submit.”

  • Enter the activation code received on your mobile number.
  • Proceed to confirmation.

Managing MOFA Appointment

Once confirmed, you have the following options:

  • Modify Appointment: Change or cancel the appointment if necessary.
  • Payment: Pay the MOFA Attestation Fee to secure the appointment.

Visit MOFA Office

On the scheduled date:

  • Arrive at the MOFA building 15 minutes before the appointment.
  • Note separate counters for individuals and companies.
  • Obtain a token for Individuals.
  • Ensure documents for attestation belong to you or your dependents only.

Alternative: MOFA Attestation via Saudi Post

If unable to visit the MOFA office:

  1. Payment Request Creation: Initiate a Payment Request as described earlier.
  2. Pay Fee: Complete payment, then visit the nearest Saudi Post office.
  3. Service Fee Payment: Pay SR 48 for the service.
  4. Processing: Await processing (2 to 10 days).
  5. Collection: Receive an SMS notification when documents are ready for collection at the designated Saudi Post office.
