Guide summary: Nafath is Saudi Arabia’s national digital identity application. It verifies an identity that has been issued and activated through Absher so users can sign in to participating government and private services. Install it only through the official Nafath links, activate it with your own Absher credentials and never approve an unexpected request.
What you need
Nafath does not replace your underlying Saudi digital identity. Before activation, you normally need an active identity record in Absher, access to the mobile number registered there and a phone that can complete the application’s security and biometric checks. Residents should ensure that the Iqama or identity number entered is their own.
- Your Absher user ID or identity number and current Absher password
- Access to the Absher-registered mobile number
- A supported smartphone with camera and biometric functions available
- The official Nafath application, reached from the National Digital Identity website
Do not install an app from a link sent in an unsolicited message. The official National Digital Identity site links to the genuine store listings and identifies Nafath as operated within Saudi Arabia’s national identity system.
Activate the app
- Install Nafath from the official link and open it.
- Choose the activation option for the digital identity issued through Absher. Labels can change with app releases, so follow the purpose rather than an old screenshot.
- Enter your Absher identity number and password on the genuine activation screen.
- Enter the one-time verification code sent to the mobile number registered with Absher.
- Complete the extra validation requested by the app. The official Absher instructions may include a validation question and biometric identity verification.
- Create the six-digit Nafath PIN requested by the app. Choose a code that is not easy to guess and do not share it.
- Confirm that activation has completed before leaving the screen.
If the registered mobile number is no longer available or the Absher credentials do not work, correct the underlying Absher access first. Repeatedly guessing passwords or verification codes can create a security problem and will not repair an outdated identity record.
Approve a genuine Nafath request
A participating website may ask you to enter an identity number and then send an approval request to Nafath. Keep the website open, read the name of the requesting service and compare any number or challenge shown on both screens. Open Nafath yourself, select the matching request, complete the required biometric or PIN check and approve it only if you initiated the login.
Reject an unfamiliar request. A caller, employer, seller or supposed support agent should not tell you which challenge to select or ask for your password, one-time code or PIN. Nafath approval can authorise access to personal services, so treat it like signing in, not like dismissing a notification.
PINs, passwords and account recovery
Your Nafath PIN protects the app on that device; your Absher password belongs to the underlying Absher account. They are not interchangeable. Use the recovery or settings options currently displayed by the relevant official service. If you change phones, lose the device or suspect access by another person, use the official support route and review the digital identity’s status promptly.
Where Nafath is used
Many Saudi government and private-sector services use national digital identity verification, but it is inaccurate to claim that every portal or every bank account requires Nafath. The service you are using will show its supported sign-in method. Always begin at that organisation’s official website.
When to get help
Use Nafath support if activation, biometrics or requests fail after your Absher details have been checked. Use Absher support for an Absher password, mobile-number or identity-activation problem. Report unexpected requests immediately and do not approve them while seeking help. UK2KSA cannot access or reset either account.
