Understanding Istimara

“Istimara” refers to vehicle registration in Arabic. It includes essential information such as the owner’s name, Iqama number, vehicle details (number, model, etc.), and registration period.

Validity of Istimara

The maximum validity period for an Istimara is three years:

  • For a new car, the Istimara is initially issued for three years.
  • Subsequent renewals are also valid for three years each.

Checking Istimara Validity with Absher

To check the expiry date of your Istimara using Absher:

  1. Log in to your Absher account at https://absher.sa.
  2. Go to the “Services” section and select “Vehicles.”
  3. Choose “Vehicle Management” and select the relevant vehicle.
  4. Scroll down to find the Istimara expiry date.

Alternative Method: Using Tawakkalna

You can also check Istimara validity through the Tawakkalna app:

  2. Log in using your Absher credentials.
  3. Access the “Dashboard” and select “Vehicles.”
  4. The app will display the expiry date of your vehicle registration.

Late Istimara Renewal Fine

Failure to renew your Istimara before its expiry date incurs a fine of SR 100 per year. Thus, delaying renewal for three years would result in a fine of SR 300. To avoid penalties, it’s crucial to monitor your Istimara validity regularly.

Remember, having a valid Istimara is essential for transferring car ownership in Saudi Arabia.
