Child born outside Saudi Arabia: payments and Iqama preparation

Guide summary: Treat the child’s entry permission and Saudi Iqama as two separate stages. Before travel, confirm the exact visa or entry authorisation and its validity with the issuing authority. After lawful arrival, confirm that the child is recorded under the correct border number and family relationship, prepare the passport, insurance and current system-generated payments, then use the resident’s Absher family-member service if the child is eligible. An entry visa or border number is not an Iqama.

First separate entry from residency

A child born outside Saudi Arabia needs a valid passport and the correct permission to enter. The document used for travel controls entry; it does not by itself issue resident status. Check the child’s name, passport number, date of birth, visa category, validity and sponsor details before booking travel. Resolve any mismatch with the authority or official channel that issued the entry authorisation.

After arrival, keep the entry record and border number. Iqama issuance is a later residency transaction for an eligible, registered family member. Do not describe a visit entry as residence, and do not assume it can be converted simply by paying a bank bill. If the child entered under a category other than dependent residence, obtain case-specific confirmation from Jawazat before making a non-refundable payment or allowing the permitted stay to run down.

Build one verified document pack

  • The child’s own valid passport and a clear copy of the identity page.
  • The child’s foreign birth certificate showing the parent–child relationship, plus any authentication or Arabic translation specifically required for the case.
  • The visa or entry-authorisation record, arrival evidence and border number.
  • The sponsoring parent’s passport, current Iqama and Absher details.
  • The other parent’s identity and residency documents where requested.
  • Medical-insurance evidence linked to the child’s correct identity details.
  • A compliant personal photograph or biometric record if the live service requires one for the child’s age.

Use spellings and number formats exactly as they appear in the passport and official records. A payment against the wrong Iqama or border number can be difficult to trace and does not correct an identity mismatch.

Prepare payments safely

  1. Open the relevant government-payment or SADAD section in your own Saudi bank and identify the liability shown for the child’s actual transaction.
  2. Check the service description, beneficiary number, child count or duration and payer details before confirming.
  3. Pay only the amount currently generated by the official system. Charges and payment labels can depend on the entry and residency record, so this guide does not quote a fixed amount.
  4. Save the receipt, SADAD reference, date, amount and account used. A screenshot alone is less useful than a reference that the bank can trace.
  5. Return to the relevant Absher service and confirm that the payment requirement is recognised before submitting the Iqama request.

Do not assume that money visible as an account balance or government-payment balance has been allocated to the correct service. Likewise, an entry-related payment is not proof that Iqama issuance fees, insurance or other current conditions are complete.

Prepare the Iqama request

Absher’s Issuance Residence Permit service is for an Absher-registered citizen or resident with a family member or domestic worker. For a family member, use the family-member resident-ID area and select the correct beneficiary. Read the live conditions before submission. The official service expects the person to be registered and present in Saudi Arabia, with a valid passport, required insurance and applicable payments completed; the system may also require a photograph or fingerprints according to the person’s age and record.

Review the delivery or collection instructions displayed after submission. Do not promise travel, school enrolment or other residency-dependent activity until the Iqama is actually issued and its details are correct.

Boundaries

This is a preparation and payment-control guide, not a visa-eligibility decision. It does not guarantee that a child can enter without a pre-issued residence visa, convert from visitor status, avoid an appointment or receive an Iqama by a set date. Requirements vary with the child’s recorded status and can change. The live Saudi visa, Absher and Jawazat records take priority.

When to get help

Ask Jawazat or use the official Absher support route if the child is absent from Family Members, the border number is not linked, the entry category is unclear, the payment is not recognised, or the Iqama service is unavailable. Ask the bank to trace a payment using its reference if the beneficiary or amount looks wrong. Contact the insurer when coverage exists but is not linked. Resolve passport, birth-certificate or sponsor-data differences before resubmitting.
