How to pay the Saudi dependant fee

Saudi companion and dependant charges are collected through SADAD government-payment channels in connection with affected passport and residency transactions. Use the amount calculated for the sponsor’s live record; bank menu names, liability and totals can vary.

  • The family sponsor or head of household must select the correct dependant record and transaction period.
  • A dependant charge is separate from an employee’s Iqama or work-permit costs and from domestic-worker services.
  • A successful payment is not proof that an Iqama, exit/re-entry visa or final-exit transaction has been completed.

Understand who and what the payment is for

The official Saudi Press Agency announcement describes a financial charge for companions and dependants of affected expatriate private-sector workers, paid in advance through SADAD when specified passport services are carried out. The liable record is linked to the expatriate worker and their registered family members. It should not be treated as a universal charge for every visitor, every resident or every person called a “dependant” in ordinary conversation.

A resident sponsor manages eligible family dependants recorded under that sponsorship. An employee has a separate employment and residency relationship with the employer. A visitor remains on a visit visa and is not made a resident dependant by paying a similarly named banking item. A domestic worker is also a distinct sponsored-worker category, not a family companion.

The charge may be calculated alongside issuance or renewal of a resident identity, an exit/re-entry visa or final exit, depending on the affected record. The amount can depend on the people registered, the dates and the transaction being requested. This guide therefore does not publish a fixed monthly rate or total. Check the official invoice produced at the time of payment and query an unexpected amount before authorising it.

Prepare the payment

Confirm which official transaction you are trying to complete, the sponsor’s Iqama number, the relevant dependant’s identifier where requested and the period or end date. Review the family records in Absher before paying. If a dependant has left permanently, has a changed status or appears twice, resolve the record with Jawazat rather than guessing a reduced total.

Use a Saudi bank or payment provider that offers SADAD government payments. Screens differ between banks and app versions. Search within government payments for the current Passports or Alien Control service and the companion, associate or dependant option matching the official transaction. Those words are interface labels; they do not change the person’s legal status.

Practical steps

  1. Start the related official process in Absher or through the responsible sponsor or employer channel and note any payment requirement or invoice details.
  2. Open your bank’s genuine app or online banking site. Navigate to SADAD or Government Payments, then the current passport-services category.
  3. Select the option for all registered companions or for a specific dependant only when it matches the transaction. For a newborn, use the newborn/dependant option only after checking that the child’s official record is ready for that process.
  4. Enter the sponsor and dependant identifiers exactly. Choose the requested service period or end date and let the system calculate the payable amount.
  5. Check the name or masked identity, service, period and amount before confirming. Save the SADAD receipt and transaction reference.
  6. Return to the official service that required payment. Complete the Iqama or visa transaction and then read back its final status and dates.

Checking the result

An available government-payment balance in Absher can show unused funds, but it does not identify every payment’s intended person or prove that the associated service finished. Use the SADAD receipt and the final Jawazat or Absher record together. If money remains as an available balance, do not pay again until the bank or responsible authority confirms what happened.

When to get help

Ask the bank about a failed, duplicated or reversed SADAD payment. Ask Jawazat through an official channel about the assessed liability, wrong family record or a payment not recognised by the passport service. Employees should involve their authorised employer representative where the transaction belongs to the employer; family sponsors remain responsible for their own dependant records.
